The Las Vegas Raiders may have missed out on drafting a kicker in the 2026 NFL Draft, but their undrafted free agent class just got a little more interesting. Hawaii's Kansei Matsuzawa, who signed with the Raiders as a priority undrafted free agent last week, was selected in the second round of the CFL Global Draft by the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Matsuzawa, a 27-year-old kicker from Japan, was taken 18th overall in the nine-team Canadian league. But don't expect him to trade his silver and black gear for a Roughriders jersey just yet. This selection simply gives him a backup plan—if the Raiders decide to release him, he has a CFL team ready to welcome him. And if any other CFL teams come calling, they'll have to negotiate with Saskatchewan first.

For now, Matsuzawa is focused on making Raiders history. He has his sights set on becoming the first Japanese-born player to ever suit up in the NFL. It's a dream that started seven years ago when the Raiders themselves inspired him to pick up a football for the first time. Now, he's living that dream, hoping to earn a spot on the roster and keep his "Tokyo Toe" in the NFL spotlight.
