The Las Vegas Raiders have managed to avoid packing their passports for seven straight years, but that streak is about to come to an end—whether they like it or not.
During their final seasons in Oakland, the Raiders were frequent flyers on the NFL's international circuit, playing home games in London back in 2014, 2018, and 2019. But since relocating to Las Vegas in 2020, the league has kept them stateside. That changes next year.
The NFL recently unveiled its 2026 international game slate, featuring nine games spread across eight global locations. The Raiders were notably absent from the schedule. The only potential matchup they could have been part of was a road game against the San Francisco 49ers in Mexico City, but that spot went to the Minnesota Vikings instead.
Here's where it gets interesting: The NFL has a rule requiring every team to host an international game once every eight years. For the Raiders, that deadline hits in 2027. And as luck—or league policy—would have it, they have an extra home game that season, making it all but certain they'll be shipping a game overseas as the designated host.
This season's international lineup already stretches from London to Munich to São Paulo, and the league's long-term vision is for every team to play at least one game abroad each year. For now, the Raiders have somehow managed to keep their cleats on U.S. soil for nearly a decade. But come 2027, the Silver and Black will finally have to answer the call—and bring their home-field advantage with them.
