Quarterback conversations in Miami are heating up, and one name deserves more attention: Quinn Ewers. While the Dolphins might be eyeing the 2026 NFL Draft for their future signal-caller, Ewers' promising rookie flashes suggest the answer could already be in the building.

The landscape shifted dramatically this offseason. Tua Tagovailoa is gone, and veteran Malik Willis has arrived, bringing a new dynamic. Yet, amidst these changes, Ewers quietly built a compelling case. Stepping in as a rookie after Tagovailoa's benching, he led the team to a 1-2 record, completing 66.3% of his passes for 622 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions.

The stats only tell part of the story. Ewers displayed a poise and confidence beyond his years. While he may not have elite, pinpoint accuracy, he showcased a live arm capable of making every throw—from threading needles on in-breaking routes to dropping a perfect dime to Greg Dulcich in the end zone. His ability to generate velocity with a flick of the wrist and make plays under pressure was a noticeable upgrade, offering a different dimension to the offense.

With a quarterback room currently featuring Willis, 2025 sixth-rounder Cam Miller, and Ewers, Miami has options. The front office may be tempted to use their draft capital on a new prospect next week, but investing development time in Ewers could pay major dividends. He showed more than enough raw talent and moxie to warrant a serious look as the long-term project. For a Dolphins team building for the future, giving Ewers a legitimate shot might be the smartest play of all.
