The Chargers have officially exercised the fifth-year option on wide receiver Quentin Johnston, securing the former first-round pick through the 2027 season. The move, announced ahead of the May 1 deadline, guarantees Johnston a projected salary of approximately $18.1 million in 2027.
Johnston has shown significant growth since being drafted No. 21 overall in 2023. After a rocky rookie campaign, he improved, tallying 106 receptions, 1,446 yards, and 16 touchdowns over the past two seasons. His eight receiving scores in 2025 led the team for the second consecutive year.
By picking up the option, the Chargers signal their long-term commitment to Johnston as a key piece of their wide receiver room. Under offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, he will only look to take another step forward in his development as a player.
