Q&A with Brandt Snedeker, captain of the U.S. team at 2026 Presidents Cup

Ahead of the Presidents Cup in September, Golfweek caught up with Brandt Snedeker for this Q&A.

Brandt Snedeker has been on quite a journey, and his recent victory at the Oneflight Myrtle Beach Classic is a testament to perseverance and passion. After 165 starts and nearly eight years without a win, the 2026 U.S. Presidents Cup captain finally returned to the winner's circle, becoming the 121st player in PGA Tour history to reach double-digit titles.

"I feel so lucky to still be out here doing what I love to do," Snedeker said after his final-round 5-under 66, which erased a three-shot deficit. "To have a chance to win a golf tournament at my age and to be able to pull it out is something super special."

With the Presidents Cup set for this September, Golfweek sat down with Snedeker to discuss his new role as captain, the lessons he's learned, and how he's preparing to lead Team USA against the International squad.

On serving as an assistant captain to Keegan Bradley last year:
"I learned how much work it's going to take to do it the right way. There's a lot more that goes into it than people think. I learned from Jim [Furyk] what it takes to get everybody buying into a team and a culture—believing in something bigger than yourselves. It's the little things: structure for the guys, what they like and won't like, and what brings them together so they can play their best."

On not playing in signature events and potentially missing face time with team candidates:
"Not at all. I'll travel to a few of them and see the guys. I have open communication with them, and I watch them just like everybody else. I've got friends who keep me updated on how they're doing. I don't think there's any added value to playing competitive rounds with them. You see them on TV, and I'll travel to spend time with them and see what's going on."

On whether he played practice rounds with any potential team members this week:
"Not this week."

As Snedeker prepares to lead the American squad, his blend of experience, humility, and strategic insight promises to make the 2026 Presidents Cup an exciting event for players and fans alike. Whether you're gearing up for the competition or just love the game, this is a captain worth watching.
