As his side emerged victors on a 5-4 scoreline in their semi-final first-leg with Bayern Munich this evening, PSG's Luis Enrique was bowled over by both teams' commitment.

“I’ve never seen a game with that rhythm before. You have to congratulate the opponents, the players," the Spaniard said, speaking to Canal+ after the final whistle.

"When you hold a 5-2 lead like that, the opponents take so many risks – they’re a top-level side. It was difficult, and the second leg will be too.

"You have to enjoy it, and you have to recognise this is just the third game they’ve lost all season," the PSG coach explained, showing only the highest respect for the Bavarians.

Such was the nature of this seesaw encounter, Enrique felt his team could have easily emerged on the wrong side of the result – ultimately, he was grateful they didn't.

“We’re really happy, and I think we deserved to win, but we also deserved a draw, and we would have even deserved to lose, because this game was that incredible," he concluded.
