The Wisconsin Badgers are heating up on the recruiting trail, and they've just added a dynamic new weapon to their backfield. Julius Pope, a talented JUCO running back, has committed to the program, marking the second pledge of the day for head coach Luke Fickell's staff.

Pope, a three-star prospect originally from Batesville, Mississippi, brings an intriguing mix of experience and versatility. He initially signed with Arkansas as a four-star linebacker in the 2024 class, redshirted, then transferred to Northwest Mississippi Community College for the 2025 season. There, he exploded onto the scene, rushing 120 times for 729 yards and eight touchdowns over 11 games, averaging an impressive 6.1 yards per carry. He also proved to be a reliable pass-catcher, hauling in 32 receptions for 355 yards and three more scores.

Ranked as the No. 65 overall player and No. 6 running back in the 247Sports composite JUCO rankings, Pope is a significant addition for a Wisconsin program looking to revitalize its ground game. The Badgers struggled mightily last season, averaging just 3.3 yards per carry and scoring only nine rushing touchdowns. Pope joins a crowded but promising backfield that includes four-star high school signee Qwantavius Wiggins and transfers Abu Sama III, Bryan Jackson II, and Nate Palmer.

This commitment comes hot on the heels of another addition earlier in the day: three-star defensive lineman David Hill. With May just beginning, the Badgers are showing they're serious about building depth and talent for the future. Pope's blend of power, speed, and pass-catching ability could be exactly what Wisconsin needs to get back to its punishing, ground-and-pound identity.
