The Michigan Wolverines are on a recruiting hot streak, and it might not be cooling down anytime soon. After securing commitments from four-star wide receiver Quentin Burrell and four-star defensive lineman Xavier Muhammad in recent days, the program is now eyeing another major addition to its 2027 class.
Four-star running back Tyson Robinson, out of Jackson (Miss.) Brandon, is set to announce his college decision this Saturday at noon. The elite prospect will choose between Michigan, Alabama, Tennessee, Arizona State, Miami, and others. For the Wolverines, this is a pivotal recruitment—Robinson has been a priority target for months, and the momentum is clearly in their favor.
The timing of Robinson’s commitment suggests he may have already found his future home, as he likely won’t take a full slate of official visits. Could that home be Ann Arbor? Michigan has done everything right in this race. Running backs coach Tony Alford laid the groundwork during the winter contact period, traveling to Mississippi’s state capital to meet Robinson at his school. When spring camp opened in March, Alford hosted Robinson twice at Schembechler Hall—and notably, those visits happened in back-to-back weeks, underscoring the urgency and connection being built.
Adam McCann, Robinson’s recruiting mentor, accompanied him on one of those trips and shared his impressions with The Wolverine. “With his goals and what he wants to do, with the teaching that Tony does, it is like a match made in heaven, like how it was for Savion,” McCann said. “He’s not chasing the big bucks, he’s not chasing the big logos, he’s chasing relationships.”
When Robinson announced in late April that he would shut down his recruitment, the buzz immediately shifted to Michigan as the frontrunner to land its first running back commit of the 2027 class. Of the nine pledges already secured, five are projected to play offense, including a Top 100 in-state talent. If Robinson joins the fold, it would solidify the Wolverines’ backfield for years to come and extend one of the most impressive recruiting runs in the program’s recent history.
