The Tigers head to Auburn where they will face the sun and tough competition

Championship season is officially here for Missouri Track & Field, and the Tigers are heading south to face both fierce competition and the Alabama sun. This week, Mizzou travels to Auburn for the SEC Outdoor Championships, set to take place Thursday through Saturday, May 14-16, at Hutsell-Rosen Track. With some of the nation's top athletes converging for conference titles, the stage is set for three days of high-stakes action.

Thursday kicks off with a jam-packed schedule, featuring the start of the decathlon and heptathlon, along with early preliminary running events and the first wave of throwing competitions. It's a day that will set the tone for the weekend ahead.

Field events get underway at noon with the women's hammer throw, where the Tigers are currently ranked No. 19 overall. Later in the afternoon, the men's hammer takes center stage, followed by the women's javelin—an event where Mizzou holds the No. 1 national ranking—and the men's javelin. Keep an eye on familiar faces like Sam Innes and Petra Gombas as they look to make their mark.

In the women's javelin, all eyes will be on Skylar Ciccolini, who has been making waves both on and off the track. Ciccolini recently earned the prestigious Brad Davis Community Service Leader of the Year award, becoming just the third student-athlete in Missouri history to receive that honor. Her leadership and consistency have propelled her to a No. 3 national ranking heading into championship weekend, making her one of the Tigers' standout performers to watch.

On the track, the preliminary rounds heat up with the women's and men's 800 meters, followed by the 200 meters and 400-meter hurdles. The evening wraps up under the lights with the women's and men's 10,000-meter finals, where star athlete Drew Rogers is expected to compete. His journey this season has been one to follow, and the 10K could be a defining moment.

One of the biggest storylines of day one is the women's heptathlon, where Brianna Utecht is set to compete. Utecht enters the SEC Championships riding high after a thrilling fourth-place finish at the Drake Relays, where she went toe-to-toe with elite competition. That momentum could make her a serious contender in this meet.

The decathlon also gets underway Thursday morning with the 100 meters, before athletes battle through the long jump, shot put, high jump, and the opening of the 400 meters. It's a grueling two-day test, and Mizzou's multi-event athletes are ready to prove their mettle on the conference stage.
