The Jacksonville Golden Eagles girls' soccer team is soaring into the postseason! On Tuesday, they officially clinched a playoff berth with a decisive 3-1 victory over Lincoln in a crucial Class 5A, Area 11 matchup.
What makes this win even more impressive is that the Golden Eagles secured it while missing a key piece of their lineup. The team played without Calhoun County tournament MVP Emerson Weaver, yet still improved their stellar season record to 11-1, showcasing their impressive depth and resilience.
The offense was led by a standout performance from Lexi Page, who netted two goals. Willa Kate Walker added another to seal the 3-1 scoreline. The scoring plays were set up by a well-distributed team effort, with Jayci Taylor, Stella Snyder, and Emily Kim each recording an assist. In goal, Sophie Snyder was a wall, making seven critical saves to preserve the lead.
While the girls celebrated their playoff-clinching win, the Jacksonville boys' team faced a tough battle against Lincoln, ultimately falling by a 3-1 score. Jack Thomas provided the Golden Eagles' lone goal, and goalkeeper Jackson Patterson kept his team in the fight with an impressive 12 saves on the night.
