Lindsay Lane, the top-ranked team in Class 2A, put on an absolute offensive clinic Friday, demolishing Westminster Christian 24-4. The Lions' bats were on fire, racking up eight extra-base hits—four of which cleared the fences.
Grayson Miller led the charge with a perfect 5-for-5 day at the plate, launching a home run, smashing two doubles, and driving in five runs. He had plenty of help from teammates Cooper Abernathy (three hits, four RBIs), Bryson McMullin (three hits, including a homer, three RBIs), and Hampton Wallace (a homer and three RBIs). On the mound, Maddox Ruble secured the win, pitching five innings with five strikeouts.
In other baseball action, West Morgan shut out Falkville 11-0 behind a strong pitching performance from Owen Cottingham, while James Clemens handled Austin 11-1. Deshler edged out Hatton 6-4 in a tighter contest, and Good Hope powered past East Lawrence 11-6.
The softball scene was just as competitive. Athens dominated in a doubleheader, first blanking Hackleburg 16-0 behind a combined offensive effort and then edging Alexandria 4-3 with Lexie Thornton delivering a clutch homer and two RBIs.
West Morgan showed serious grit, rallying with three runs in the fifth inning to overcome Sparkman 4-3. Meanwhile, Lawrence County had a huge day, first mercy-ruling Sumiton Christian 15-0—scoring 14 runs in the first inning alone—and then grinding out a narrow 2-1 victory over Pell City.
