It was a weekend to remember for Greater Lansing softball teams, with Dansville claiming the Portland Invitational title in dominant fashion. The Aggies powered through three games, capping off their run with a 17-7 win over host Portland, a 14-7 victory over Okemos, and a decisive win against Portland St. Patrick.

Laci Neal was the undeniable star of the tournament, driving in five runs and crushing a three-run home run in the win over Portland. She then took the circle and threw a no-hitter against St. Patrick, striking out 16 batters. Neal finished the weekend with an incredible 10 hits across the three games. Not to be outdone, Maddi Carter fanned 14 batters to earn the win against Okemos and added a home run of her own against St. Patrick.

Elsewhere, Perry’s Emma Winans picked up a win against Saranac at the Fulton Invitational, going 4-for-5 at the plate with two doubles and two runs scored. Teammate Bella Hamel also contributed with two hits and three runs scored for the Ramblers.

On the baseball diamond, Mason hosted its own invitational, earning a semifinal win over Lowell before falling to Mattawan in the championship game. Colton McCaleb was the star on the mound, throwing a complete game with 16 strikeouts in the win over Lowell. Hayden Hendrickson and Logan Davis each drove in a run in that game, while Travis Davis added an RBI and a run scored in the final against Mattawan.

Charlotte’s tennis team also had a strong showing on the road, traveling to Comstock Park and picking up wins over Marshall, Cedar Springs, and Comstock Park. Cami Tuller, Andie Ames, Hannah Bodell, and Emmie Tucker each went a perfect 3-0 in singles play, while the doubles teams of Ava Decker and Natalie Penfield, as well as Charlotte Reed and Vanessa Musiol, each secured three wins for the Orioles.
