
Apr. 25—Several area players and coaches participated in the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association North-South All Star Game on Friday, April 24, at Olentangy Liberty.
The North put together a 73-point second half to win 122-111 in the boys game.
Cameron Elwer of Delphos St. John's recorded 14 points for the North team.
Trey Sagester of Tri-Village tallied eight points, C.J. Bailey of Tippecanoe had six and Isaiah Thompson of Wayne chipped in two for the South team.
In the girls game the North pulled away in the second half to win 98-73.
Kaylah Thornton of Fairmont led the South squad in scoring with 18 points.
Katie Litten of Versailles added six and Alex Dixon of Urbana scored three.
At half-time several area players and coaches were presented with OHSBCA awards and scholarships.
Thornton added to her hardware collection with the OHSBCA Division I player of the year award. Elwer was honored with the Mr. OHSBCA and D-VII player of the year awards and Sagester the D-VI player of the year award.
Jeremy Dixon of Urbana, Aaron Elwer of Delphos St. John's and Jason Tincher of Bellbrook were recognized for coach of the year awards. Todd Cook and Steve York of Waynesville and Phil Barhorst of Fort Loramie took home assistant coach of the year awards.
Centerville 11, Wayne 1: Bronson Weng improved to 4-0 on the season with the win on the mound, Luke Maciejewski knocked three hits and Centerville improved to 8-0 in the GWOC with a 10th consecutive win.
Beavercreek 13, Fairmont 3: Brock Bukiewicz struck out nine to grab the win on the mound along with driving in four runs at the plate. Easton Grimm also tallied four RBI, including a home run, to pace the Beavers.
Northmont 10, Springboro 0: Troy Holthaus threw five shutout innings, Talon Paugh drove in four runs on three hits and Brady Whittaker added two RBI for Northmont, which handed 'Boro its second loss of the year.
Miamisburg 14, Springfield 1: Reece Hammond, Ty Hoskins, Nathan Linder and Justin Reeder drove in a pair of runs apiece and Aiden Long earned the win on the mound for 'Burg.
Lakota West 14, Middletown 2: Noah Bramble knocked in four runs off of two hits from the leadoff spot, Kameron Gaalaas recorded two triples with two RBI and Lakota West halted a three-game losing skid.
Kenton Ridge 13, North Union 0: Jakob Groeschel had three hits, all home runs, to lead Kenton Ridge to a ninth consecutive victory. Brennan Shaffer and Nic Stumpf also knocked a long ball each and Mason Amato recorded the shutout win.
Springfield Shawnee 5, Bellefontaine 2: Shawnee put together a four-run fifth inning to earn the CBC crossover victory. Justin Boehmer doubled and drove in two runs and Kaiden Roeder picked up the complete-game win.
Urbana 12, Graham 2: Kevin Endres drove in three runs off three hits and Grady and Tate Lantz each had three hits with two RBI for Urbana.
Ben Logan 13, Tecumseh 3: Cayden Brown accounted for five RBI off of three hits and Carrick Spriggs and Adam Tinsman each doubled and drove in a run for Ben Logan.
Troy 6, Tippecanoe 5: Jake Reinhardt pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts, Aidan Gorman smacked a double and a home run and Troy swept Tipp to improve to 13-1 overall.
