Izan Guevara is poised to step up to MotoGP next season in a deal to race for Yamaha’s satellite team Pramac

The MotoGP paddock is buzzing with exciting news: rising star Izan Guevara is set to make the leap to the premier class, joining Yamaha's satellite squad, Pramac Racing, for the 2027 season. This deal, which could be finalized in the coming weeks, marks a major milestone for the 21-year-old Spaniard, who has been turning heads with his recent performances.

Guevara, who turns 22 next month, already extended his contract with Yamaha through 2027 at the end of last season. However, at the time, it wasn't clear which category he'd compete in. Fast forward to now, and after a stunning run of form—including a victory at the Valencia Grand Prix to close out 2025 and three podiums in the first five races of this season, capped by a win at Le Mans—both Guevara and Yamaha are finalizing the details for his MotoGP promotion. Insiders expect the deal to be signed before the summer break.

This is a story of resilience. Guevara burst onto the global scene in 2022 by dominating the Moto3 championship with seven wins and 12 podiums. That success earned him a step up to Moto2 with the Aspar team, but the transition was rocky. He struggled to adapt to the Kalex bike, managing just one podium in 38 races over two tough seasons.

Everything changed when Guevara joined Yamaha's Moto2 project last year and gained the mentorship of Pramac team manager Gino Borsoi. The pair worked closely—Guevara even moved to Valencia to train with Borsoi—and the switch to Boscoscuro machinery proved a game-changer. His form rebounded dramatically, culminating in that emotional win at Valencia and a private Yamaha MotoGP test the following day. Despite cold, tricky conditions, Guevara impressed team bosses with his pace on the M1.

Now, with a provisional agreement in place, Guevara is expected to team up with Toprak Razgatlioglu at Pramac from 2027. That leaves current rider Jack Miller—a four-time MotoGP race winner—as the odd man out, with his future uncertain and no offers on the table. For Guevara, though, the future has never looked brighter. From Moto3 champion to MotoGP hopeful, his journey is a testament to talent, hard work, and the right support system.
