The Brooklyn Nets may have missed out on the top prize in the 2026 NBA Draft, but don't count them out just yet. After landing the No. 6 pick in the lottery—falling short of landing BYU superstar AJ Dybantsa—the Nets are still in prime position to add a dynamic playmaker to their roster. And one name that's generating serious buzz in Brooklyn's direction? Arkansas guard Darius Acuff Jr.
Speaking at the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago, Acuff made it clear he's ready for whatever comes next. "Whatever team takes me, I'm good," he said when asked about his meeting with the Nets. "Getting to know them, it was a good experience for sure, just talking to them." With most mock drafts projecting Acuff to land in Brooklyn—assuming the Los Angeles Clippers don't snag him at No. 5—the fit seems natural.
Acuff isn't shy about his confidence, especially when it comes to questions about his size. Listed at 6-foot-3 during his college season, he measured in at 6-foot-2 and 186 pounds at the Combine, though his 6-foot-7 wingspan helps offset any concerns. When asked about the NBA's shifting view of smaller guards, Acuff didn't flinch. "I know my game. People got their own opinions. However I feel about my game, that's what it is to me," he said. "To be honest with you, I don't really care. I think I kind of knew what it was already. However, people are going to always have an opinion no matter what."
And what does Acuff see himself becoming at the next level? "Definitely a superstar point guard for sure. Just bring a lot of excitement to any city I go to, and just bring a lot of excitement straight from Day 1," he said. That kind of swagger is exactly what the Nets could use as they reshape their future. General manager Sean Marks will have a tough decision to make if Acuff is still on the board at No. 6—but adding a guard with this much offensive firepower and self-belief might be too good to pass up.
