Compensatory pick calculations for the 2027 NFL Draft are now effectively locked in, as the post-draft window has closed. Any free agent signings moving forward will no longer factor into the compensatory pick equation for 2027.
According to projections from Over the Cap.com, the Buffalo Bills currently project to have their qualifying losses fully offset by their qualifying signings. DB Chauncey Gardner-Johnson is expected to cancel out the departure of G David Edwards, while DB Dee Alford offsets QB Mitch Trubisky. As a result, Buffalo is not currently projected to receive a compensatory pick in the 2027 draft, barring any variance in the league’s final calculations.

From a roster standpoint, the Bills are carrying approximately 88 players and are permitted to have up to 91 during training camp due to the International Player Pathway exemption granted for Travis Clayton. This leaves three available roster spots.
Historically, Buffalo has used these final offseason roster spots on players with prior familiarity within the organization. These additions are typically veterans or depth players who have previously spent time in the system, offering a level of continuity and minimizing the learning curve during camp. Special teams experience and positional versatility are often key factors in these decisions. With this being said, look for some familiar faces to be waiting in the parking lot this week at One Bills Drive as several former Bills’ veteran free agents remain unsigned.
With the compensatory window now closed, teams can make these remaining additions without impacting future draft capital. The focus now shifts to rounding out the roster with low-risk, cost-effective options ahead of training camp.
