The game’s hero was Cody Haggard, who delivered a go-ahead single in the seventh inning and showcased his versatility on the mound, tossing 5 1/3 innings. Haggard went 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs and an RBI, while striking out six batters and allowing four runs on three hits. Liam Jackson provided a flawless relief effort, retiring all five batters he faced via strikeout.
The Pirates struck first, taking a 2-0 lead in the third inning on a solo home run by Cole Wadsworth. After Polson extended the lead to 4-2, Bigfork (10-4) rallied in the sixth, tying the game on a wild pitch that scored Hayden Mayer and an error that brought Calvin Wiest home. However, Haggard’s clutch hit in the seventh shifted momentum back to Polson (11-7). In other action, Ronan took an early 3-0 lead over Mission-Arlee Charlo, but the Bulldogs erupted for 13 runs over the final two innings to secure a comeback victory. Everett Lozeau singled in the first to give Ronan (1-15) the lead, scoring Brodee Woll, and Blaine Dupuis made it 2-0 on a fielder’s choice. Joseph Fulwiler added an RBI single in the fifth to extend the lead. However, Ronson Hout’s two-run single to left sparked a 10-run fifth inning for MAC (4-12), and three more runs in the sixth sealed the walk-off win. Kenner Mock threw four no-hit innings for the Chiefs, striking out three and walking five.
Meanwhile, Libby edged Noxon 2-0 in a pitcher’s duel, thanks to Branson Holzer’s RBI triple in the fifth inning that broke a scoreless tie. Holzer later scored on a sacrifice fly from Kale Riddle. Boe Miles delivered a complete-game shutout, striking out 14 batters and allowing just three hits while walking two.
