The Pleasant Grove Hawks continued their winning ways on Tuesday, securing a decisive shutout victory over district rival North Lamar in a midweek clash in Texarkana.
Pitchers Hunter Rose and Ben Carpenter were the story of the day, combining for a dominant performance on the mound. Rose was particularly untouchable, striking out an impressive 15 batters and allowing zero hits over six innings of work, setting the tone for the Hawks' defense.
Offensively, Pleasant Grove built their lead steadily. Blue Rose kicked off the scoring in the second inning, driving in Christian May. The Hawks then broke the game open in the third, adding three more runs thanks to key contributions, including an RBI single from Elrod.
The fourth inning saw the Hawks extend their lead further. Hunter Rose, contributing with his bat as well, knocked a two-RBI hit, and Elrod followed up with another RBI single to solidify the commanding advantage.
With this win, Pleasant Grove adds another crucial mark to their district record. The Hawks will look to carry this momentum into their next matchup, a rematch on the road against North Lamar this Friday.
