Jenkins just keeps getting the job done.

In a league filled with lottery picks and one-and-done phenoms, Daniss Jenkins stands out as one of the most inspiring stories in the NBA today. His path to the Detroit Pistons wasn't paved with five-star recruiting rankings or highlight-reel mixtapes—it was built on grit, perseverance, and an unshakable belief in his own potential.

Jenkins didn't even have a recruiting profile on 247Sports when he was in high school. From there, he took a chance on Pacific in the West Coast Conference, then had to step back to junior college at Odessa College. His breakout came under Hall of Famer Rick Pitino at Iona, and he followed Pitino to St. John's, where he earned second-team All-Big East honors. But by NBA standards, he was already considered old at 22, and he went undrafted in 2024.

Fast forward to today, and Jenkins is a crucial guard off the bench for the Eastern Conference's top-seeded Detroit Pistons. In the first two games of their East semifinal series against the Cleveland Cavaliers, he's been nothing short of fantastic. In Thursday night's win, he drilled a tough 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer, finished with 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists, and even earned a spot in the closing lineup.

Jenkins is the kind of player you can't help but root for. While the Pistons have former top recruits like Cade Cunningham and Tobias Harris leading the way, they also have journeymen like Jenkins and former D-III star Duncan Robinson. It's a mix that has created something special in Detroit this season. If Jenkins keeps delivering performances like this, the Motor City might have even more memorable moments ahead.
