Baseball fans, get ready for a fresh look at PNC Park. The Pittsburgh Pirates have officially unveiled their new Nike City Connect uniform, a special jersey the team will debut and wear for every Friday home game throughout the 2026 season.
The first chance to see them in action will be on Friday, April 17, 2026, when the Pirates host the Tampa Bay Rays. This release continues a growing MLB tradition where teams celebrate their unique local identity through special edition gear.
True to Pittsburgh's iconic sports culture, the design fully embraces the city's signature black and gold color scheme. Pittsburgh is famously the only city where all its major professional teams share the same colors, creating a powerful, unified visual identity for its passionate fanbase.
According to the team, the uniform is built to embody the "grit, toughness and pride" of the Steel City. The rugged, classic pirate-style wordmark even incorporates subtle design cues inspired by Pittsburgh's iconic Sister Bridges, blending local architecture with team heritage.
"We believe this collaboration with Nike captures the same intensity our fans bring to PNC Park," said Pirates President Travis Williams. He emphasized that the design reflects a confident, hardworking community that expects to compete and win.
The complete Friday night kit includes two sharp hat variations: a primary gold cap with a black brim and a secondary black cap with a gold brim, both featuring the classic Jolly Roger logo crossed with swords.
This marks the Pirates' second entry in the popular Nike City Connect program, following their first design in 2023. For fans looking to rep this new Pittsburgh pride, the City Connect merchandise will be available at PNC Park and through major online retailers.
