The 77th West Central Coaches Association Meet at Windber Stadium was a showcase of emerging talent and team depth, with Bedford High School capturing the girls' team title in a thrilling finish.

Bedford's victory was a true team effort, amassing 109 points to edge out runner-up Conemaugh Township by six. "Our girls team had a bunch of different winners," said coach Brian Creps, highlighting their balanced attack. The Bisons' strength was on full display with wins in both the 400- and 1600-meter relays, while Keira Koontz starred individually, taking first in the 100 hurdles and running legs on both victorious relay teams.

While Bedford celebrated the team crown, Richland's Natalia Mavridis owned the individual spotlight with a stunning triple victory. She swept the 400, 800, and 1600 meters, a testament to her incredible range and endurance. "I switched my mindset for today," Mavridis said, noting that a strong relay leg early in the meet sparked her confidence for the dominant performance.

The meet also featured record-breaking feats. Bedford's Sophia Genditzki set a new girls' meet record in the pole vault, clearing 10 feet, 7 inches to establish the first standard at the new Windber Stadium. In the high jump, Conemaugh Township's reigning state champion, Baylee Sleek, continued her dominance with a winning leap of 5-6.

Other standout performances included United's Lilly McGinnis winning the 300 hurdles and teammate Olivia Henning taking first in the 3200. With such a strong start to the season, these athletes have set a high bar for the championship meets to come.
