Philadelphia Phillies designated hitter Kyle Schwarber said there's always a "sense of urgency" to win a ballgame after losing 8-0 to the Atlanta Braves.

The Philadelphia Phillies are searching for answers after a tough 8-0 loss to the Atlanta Braves extended their losing streak to three games. During this skid, the team has been outscored by a staggering 30-6 margin, highlighting a significant offensive slump that echoes last season's struggles.

Currently, the Phillies' bats rank near the bottom of the league in key categories like OPS, batting average, and runs scored. While it's still early in the marathon MLB season, the need for a turnaround is palpable in the clubhouse.

Designated hitter Kyle Schwarber, the runner-up for the 2024 National League MVP, addressed the team's mindset following the loss. "There's always a sense of urgency," Schwarber stated. "It doesn't matter if you're on a 20-game win streak or a 20-game losing streak. There's always a sense of urgency to go out there and win a baseball game."

Schwarber has been a consistent power threat despite the team's struggles, posting a .891 OPS with six home runs in 19 games. This season, he's been hitting second in the order, a shift from his previous roles as lead-off and cleanup hitter for the Phillies.

With shortstop Trea Turner also struggling to find his rhythm at the top of the lineup, manager Rob Thomson may need to consider shaking up the batting order to spark the offense. The team's immediate challenge won't get any easier, as they face a marquee pitching matchup on Saturday featuring 2024 NL Cy Young winner Chris Sale of the Braves against Philadelphia's own ace, Cristopher Sanchez.
