It was a thrilling day on the greens across the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference, with several close matches coming down to the wire. At The Barracks in Plattsburgh, Peru's Cooper Sweeney and Saranac's Rhys Fraser both shot impressive 39s to share medalist honors, but it was the Nighthawks who emerged victorious with a 4-2 team win over the Spartans. Sweeney, playing in the No. 2 spot, was joined by teammates Patrick Clark, Paxton Akin, and Steve Santor in securing key victories. For Saranac, Fraser's strong performance in the No. 1 match and Eric Glover's win weren't enough to tip the scales.
Over in Saranac Lake, the Red Storm kicked off their season with a hard-fought win. Lake Placid's Carver Bell stole the show as medalist with a stellar 38, while Saranac Lake's Ryan McGinnis-Theis countered with a solid 40. The Red Storm's depth proved decisive, with Jonah Peckham (44), Noah Hastings (43), and Ryder Harrison (42) all stepping up to claim victories. Bell and Oren Preston (41) kept the Blue Bombers in the hunt, and one match was halved, but Saranac Lake's team effort sealed the deal.
In another tight contest, Jack Studley led the Hornets with a low round, while Jarrett Lemos, Thaddeus Lemos, Max Luck, and Tyler Adams also contributed to the team win. Ticonderoga's Noah Wells earned medalist honors with a 42 in the No. 1 match, showcasing his skill under pressure. Seton Catholic saw strong rounds from Trombley (44), Leary (51), and Hines (57).
At Keene, the Beavers dominated on the par-33 AuSable Club Golf Course, with Brayden Harmer taking medalist honors with a stellar 37 and Sam Crowl adding a 39. Asa Sprague, Peter Robjent, Sylvan Linton, and Brody Harrell all won their matches to power the team. Bryce Liberi was the low golfer for the Griffins with a 43. "It was very windy and cool," said Keene coach Michael Korpan, highlighting the challenging conditions.
Finally, in Willsboro, the Wolves celebrated a milestone—their first victory since 2023. Peyton Leerkes and Brody Jaquich shared overall medalist honors, each carding a 55, while Wyatt Palmer, Allan Cahill, and Myles MacDonald also won their matches. Crown Point's Jarod Kimball impressed with a solid 56, and Aiden Ryan secured the Panthers' lone win. The match scores told the story: No. 1 saw Leerkes edge Kimball 55-56 in a 2-up battle, while Ryan topped Paige Leerkes 61-70 in the No. 2 spot. Cahill closed out the day with a 56-68 win over Ingleston in the No. 5 match.
