Pep Guardiola has never been one to shy away from a challenge, and his latest comments about Manchester City’s congested schedule reveal the fierce competitive spirit that drives him. With City still chasing Arsenal in the Premier League title race and an FA Cup final against Chelsea looming, the fixture list has tightened at the worst possible moment.

City face a daunting run-in: a midweek clash against Crystal Palace, a trip to Wembley for the FA Cup final, and then league fixtures against Bournemouth and Aston Villa. For Guardiola, the frustration is clear, even if he acknowledges that this pressure comes with the territory of success.

"We don't think about the generosity of the Premier League," Guardiola said with his trademark dry wit. "As always, they have been really nice with this schedule! But it is what it is. We accept it. I always said, if you don't play the FA Cup final, you won't have this schedule. So we are in the final, and this is what we get."

He added: "I would love to have the schedule of being in the Champions League semi-final in the middle of the title race. When we won the treble or quadruple, we were in that dynamic. It's really nice."

City currently trail Arsenal by five points, with three league matches left compared to Arsenal's two. That means Guardiola's side needs perfection, plus a slip from the Gunners. It's a familiar late-season battlefield for City, where margins shrink and every team selection becomes a statement of intent.

The FA Cup final adds prestige but also strain. For Guardiola, however, there's no appetite for picking and choosing. "The competitions, knockout stages—it's like life or death. It's nice. It's like now at the end of the season," he said.

Reflecting on his decade at the helm, Guardiola emphasized the mentality he's instilled: "I've tried with my staff since I arrived 10 years ago to make this club think that from the first pre-season game in Asia or America, we have to win. We have to try to win, not choose competitions or games. We have to inoculate that in our DNA."

For City fans, this relentless pursuit of glory is exactly what makes this team special—and what makes every match a must-watch event.
