Standing at 7-feet tall, the Camp Hill, Pennsylvania native saw his role evolve unexpectedly this past season. Originally slated for a redshirt year, Houser was pressed into action mid-season due to a series of team injuries. He answered the call, appearing in 18 games and averaging 1.4 points and 1.1 rebounds. His most extended opportunity came in a road contest at Michigan in early February, where he logged 22 minutes and contributed 6 points and 2 rebounds, offering a glimpse of his potential.

Houser's departure marks the seventh Penn State player to enter the portal this offseason, joining teammates Dominick Stewart, Kayden Mingo, Freddie Dilione, Eli Rice, Mason Blackwood, and Melih Tunca. When combined with the graduation of Josh Reed, the program is looking at eight open scholarship spots. While two of those spots have already been filled by new commits, six scholarships remain available—and that number could grow if more players decide to transfer. This roster overhaul coincides with the program also working to fill a couple of vacant assistant coaching positions, signaling a period of major transition for Nittany Lion basketball.
