The New England Patriots are facing an off-field controversy as rookie linebacker Quintayvious Hutchins was arrested and charged with domestic violence on Tuesday. The seventh-round pick from the 2026 NFL Draft had just begun his professional career after signing his rookie deal, but now finds himself at the center of a troubling legal situation.

According to a police report obtained by Boston 25 News, officers responded to a youth residence hall at Boston College following reports of a man and woman fighting in a hallway. Upon arrival, three resident assistants (RAs) were already detaining Hutchins, and they escorted officers to the fourth floor while describing what had allegedly transpired in the elevator.

The RAs claimed Hutchins had grabbed the victim by the neck. When police reached the fourth floor, they reportedly discovered a ceiling tile and clothing belonging to Hutchins scattered on the ground. The victim initially told officers that "nothing happened" and that she was okay.

However, a witness later provided a more detailed account. She told police that she opened her door after hearing yelling and saw both Hutchins and the woman approaching. The witness stated she observed Hutchins pushing the victim, who was crying and yelling back. As the witness tried to separate them, Hutchins allegedly continued pushing and bumping into the victim while accusing her of cheating.

The situation escalated when the witness said Hutchins choked the victim and yelled at her in front of her. She attempted to de-escalate the confrontation and advised the victim to return to her room. The victim then allegedly went to her room and threw Hutchins' belongings into the hallway, while Hutchins continued aggressively calling her "a cheater" and using expletives.

When asked about the choking allegation, the witness clarified that it was not strangulation but rather a firm grip while Hutchins was trying to explain his side of the story at her door. The altercation reportedly began when Hutchins traveled from Foxborough to pick up items from the victim's room and brought her food. The victim allegedly told police she did not want to press charges.

This incident casts a shadow over what should have been an exciting start to Hutchins' NFL journey. As a Boston College alum drafted in the seventh round, he was looking to prove himself at the professional level. Now, the Patriots organization and the league will be watching closely as this legal matter unfolds.
