The 2026 NFL Draft is officially over, and now it's time to discuss another standout player the Patriots could potentially add to their roster in the coming weeks.
There has been a lot of speculation this offseason that New England will pursue a trade for Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown after June 1. However, it remains unclear what the Patriots would need to part with to secure him.
New England may need to part with a few draft picks, including a first-rounder in 2027. It might also have to let go of a player, as Patriots reporter Chad Graff from The Athletic suggested that wide receiver Kayshon Boutte could be included in the deal.
"In full disclosure, we’re treating Boutte here as a substitution for the aforementioned Brown, since it seems like just a matter of time until Brown becomes a Patriot, and Boutte seems the most likely receiver to head to Philadelphia in a trade," Graff wrote on Monday. "With Brown in the fold, this would be a strong group of receivers. That said, if a deal doesn’t get done, this position looks like a weakness entering Year 3 with Drake Maye."
Boutte and Brown could both work together, but the Eagles would likely want to bring in another veteran wide receiver since they will be losing Brown. Adding Boutte would make the most sense in that scenario.
It will be interesting to see what the Patriots will have to give up to acquire Brown. If Boutte is included in the deal, the Eagles will get a nice addition.
