New England Patriots linebacker K.J. Britt knows exactly what kind of player he is—and he's not afraid to own it.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, as reported by The Athletic's Chad Graff, Britt made it clear that his value on the field goes far beyond raw athleticism. "I might not be the fastest, I might not be the strongest… But I'm a football player," Britt said.

That self-awareness is backed up by four seasons of consistent production. Drafted in the fifth round (No. 176 overall) by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021, the Auburn product has steadily carved out a role for himself. While he may not blow anyone away with his 40-yard dash time or bench press numbers, Britt's football IQ and instincts have kept him on the field.

His breakout came in 2023, when he became a key piece of Tampa Bay's defense. Over the next two seasons, Britt started 16 of 47 games for the Buccaneers and Miami Dolphins. He recorded at least 29 tackles in each of the last three seasons, peaking with a career-high 72 tackles in 2024. He also added three tackles for loss and two passes defensed during that stretch.

Now with the Patriots, Britt is expected to provide meaningful depth behind starting linebackers Christian Elliss and Robert Spillane. His ability to step up when called upon will be crucial for New England's defensive rotation.
