The photos, taken at the Ambiente resort, depict the pair in swimwear by a pool and sharing a hug on a rooftop. Vrabel, 50, and Russini, 43, are both married to other people, adding a layer of public scrutiny to the private moments.

In a statement to the Post, Vrabel dismissed the implication, saying, "These photos show a completely innocent interaction and any suggestion otherwise is laughable. This doesn’t deserve any further response."

Russini, a national NFL reporter for The Athletic, echoed that sentiment, emphasizing the professional context. "The photos don’t represent the group of six people who were hanging out during the day," she stated. "Like most journalists in the NFL, reporters interact with sources away from stadiums and other venues."

Her employer, The Athletic, also came to her defense. Executive Editor Steven Ginsberg called the photos "misleading and lack essential context," adding that Russini is "a premier journalist covering the NFL."

The timing of the encounter coincides with a busy period on the NFL calendar. Vrabel had been at a scouting event at Arizona State University just prior, and both he and Russini were in the Phoenix area for the annual NFL league meetings shortly afterward.
