Patrick Mouratoglou has set his sights on tennis superstars Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner for his Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) Tour, and fans are already buzzing about the possibility.
Since launching the UTS Tour in 2020, Mouratoglou has built a reputation for shaking up traditional tennis with a fast-paced, fan-friendly format. Unlike the standard ATP circuit, UTS features unique scoring rules and a more relaxed atmosphere, making it a hit with players and spectators alike. The tour has already attracted big names like Alexander Zverev, Ben Shelton, Alex de Minaur, and Felix Auger-Aliassime, who recently claimed the title at the Nimes event.
Now, Mouratoglou is dreaming even bigger. In a recent interview at the Nimes tournament, he admitted that landing Alcaraz and Sinner would be a game-changer. "It's my dream to have Carlos and Jannik participate," he said. "I understand that when they play tournaments outside the ATP Tour, their financial expectations are super high—that's their value, and I don't question it. But there's something about our format that could be interesting for them. Imagine them using UTS as a fun, low-pressure warm-up before a major event like a Grand Slam or a Masters 1000. It could be the perfect preparation."
Mouratoglou acknowledged the challenge of meeting the financial demands of two of the sport's brightest stars, but he remains hopeful. "I hope one day the conditions will make them feel like, 'Oh, I'd love to play this.' It looks really cool and fun, and I'd be happy to see them play real matches before a big tournament. Maybe one day I'll have them—and I really hope I will."
While fans wait for that dream lineup, the UTS Tour is already gearing up for its next stop. In a few months, the competition heads to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil—its first-ever event in South America. Four players have been confirmed so far, including the ever-entertaining Nick Kyrgios, who hasn't played a competitive match since his first-round doubles exit at the Australian Open. He's expected to return in April or May, and his participation is sure to draw attention. Joining him will be Cameron Norrie and Francisco Cerúndolo, adding more star power to the lineup.
Whether or not Alcaraz and Sinner eventually join the party, one thing is clear: the UTS Tour is making waves, and Mouratoglou isn't done dreaming big yet.
