The numbers soon to be adorning the uniforms of the Green Bay Packers' six-player draft class in 2026 were handed out by the team on Monday. For those who care about football aesthetics, and there are dozens of us, today is an important day.

Per the Packers, the uniform numbers are as follows:

Cisse wore No. 15 at South Carolina, but the number is retired for Bart Starr in Green Bay. In need of something new, Cisse went back to the past and landed on No. 2 -- a number he wore for a season at NC State. This is an elite single digit number for a corner and receives an A+ grade. Cisse's selection also ends speculation of Matthew Golden making the switch to No. 2.

A questionable choice for the third-round pick. McClellan wore No. 7 at both Florida and Missouri, but Javon Bullard recently switched from No. 20 to No. 7 after Quay Walker departed in free agency. There were no numbers available in the 90s, limiting his options. It's possible he'll make the switch to something better -- like No. 97, perhaps -- after final cuts in August. Jordon Riley currently has No. 97. Maybe the double nickel look on a big nose tackle will grow us.

Last to wear No. 55 in Green Bay: DE Kingsley Enagbare

Dennis-Sutton wore No. 33 in high school and at Penn State, but the number is currently worn by starting safety Evan Williams in Green Bay. The Packers' fourth-round pick ended up with a more traditional pass-rusher number in No. 51. A fine choice. Nothing flashy, nothing egregious.

Burton wore No. 62 at Kentucky, but Jacob Monk currently wears the number in Green Bay. The logical switch was to 52, a classic center number once worn by Super Bowl champion Frank Winters. Burton taking 52 ends a long run of Packers rushers wearing the number, beginning with Clay Matthews and continuing with Rashan Gary.

Jackson wore No. 3 in high school and No. 1 at both USC and Alabama. Neither number is available -- Micah Parsons has No. 1, and No. 3 is retired. Jackson made another logical choice, landing on No. 20 -- a strong cornerback number. This number is open because Javon Bullard switched from No. 20 to No. 7.

We are in the age of weird kicker numbers. Smack wore No. 18 and No. 27 in high school, and No. 29 at Florida. In Green Bay, No. 18 is Desmond Ridder, No. 27 is Kitan Oladapo and No. 29 is Xavier McKinney. With limited traditional options, Smack stayed in the 20s and picked No. 28. We'll see if this sticks if (or when) he makes the 53-man roster in August. I surprisingly don't mind it. Smack must rid Green Bay of the stench left by Brayden Narveson, who wore No. 44 for a handful of forgettable performances in 2024.
