The Green Bay Packers have been busy strengthening their roster, picking up two promising players off waivers this week. According to the NFL transaction wire, the team has added tight end Luke Lachey and cornerback MJ Devonshire to their squad.

Lachey, a seventh-round pick by the Houston Texans in the 2024 NFL Draft, brings an impressive football pedigree. He's the son of Jim Lachey, a three-time All-Pro left tackle who dominated for the San Diego Chargers and Washington in the 1980s and '90s. Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 247 pounds, Lachey has the size and skills to make an impact at the tight end position.

After being released following his rookie training camp, Lachey spent last season on the Texans' practice squad before signing a futures contract in January. However, Houston made a surprising move on May 11, releasing him just weeks after drafting Michigan tight end Marlin Klein in the second round. The Packers quickly swooped in to claim him.

Lachey's college career at Iowa was marked by steady production. He became a starter in 2022 and, after missing most of the 2023 season with an ankle injury, returned as a redshirt senior to start all 11 games. During that final season, he hauled in 28 passes for 281 yards. Over his four-year college career, Lachey appeared in 42 games, catching 74 passes for 893 yards and four touchdowns.

On the defensive side, the Packers also claimed cornerback MJ Devonshire from the Buffalo Bills after he was released on May 11. Devonshire adds depth to Green Bay's secondary, giving the team more options as they prepare for the upcoming season.

These waiver claims are part of a broader roster overhaul for the Packers, who recently made six selections in the 2026 NFL Draft. Their first pick came in the second round with South Carolina cornerback Brandon Cisse at 52nd overall. The draft class also includes defensive tackle Chris McClellan from Missouri (third round, 77th overall), edge rusher Dani Dennis-Sutton from Penn State (fourth round, 120th overall), offensive lineman Jager Burton from Kentucky (fifth round, 153rd overall), and Alabama cornerback Domani Jackson (sixth round, 201st overall).

For Packers fans, these moves signal a team committed to building depth and adding talent at key positions. Whether you're gearing up for game day or just love following the roster moves, keep an eye on Lachey and Devonshire as they compete for spots in Green Bay's lineup.
