A tough day at the plate led to a shutout loss for the Austin Packers softball team, who fell 7-0 to Rochester John Marshall at Todd Park on Tuesday. The Packers (6-15 overall) struggled to generate offense, managing just two hits against a JM squad that improved to 5-17 on the season.
In the circle, KJ Schaefer worked all seven innings, striking out seven batters but allowing eight hits, three walks, and seven runs—only two of which were earned. Despite the final score, Schaefer's effort kept the game within reach early, but the Packers' bats couldn't provide the support needed to mount a comeback.
At the plate, Charlee Cunningham and Lexi Helgeson each went 1-for-3 to account for Austin's only hits of the afternoon. The team will look to bounce back and find more offensive rhythm as they continue their season, aiming to build momentum and sharpen their approach in upcoming matchups.
