Pablo Pagis has enjoyed a breakout season at FC Lorient, but the 23-year-old French playmaker has now confirmed that it's time for a new challenge. Speaking on Thursday, Pagis announced his desire to leave the club this summer, calling it "the right moment" to take the next step in his career.
It's been a standout campaign for the young talent, who has featured in 30 matches across all competitions, netting 10 goals and adding three assists. As the season winds down, Lorient have already secured their spot in Ligue 1 for next year, but Pagis is already turning heads elsewhere.
According to Ouest-France, a host of top French clubs are circling, including Olympique Lyonnais, Stade Rennais, RC Lens, and Paris FC. That interest aligns perfectly with Pagis' ambitions. "There are ambitious clubs that are interested. It is flattering," he said in an interview with Ouest-France and Le Télégramme. "In my young career, I have never taken too big a step in just one go. I don't want to rush through the steps, but if there are foreign clubs playing at the top of their leagues that are interested, why not?"
The playmaker has his sights set on European competition, and when asked specifically about interest from Lens and Rennes, he admitted that such a move would "certainly match" his goals. For now, all eyes are on where this rising star will land as he looks to build on his impressive form.
