The Orioles went hitless for six innings, but Coby Mayo delivered a three-run homer in a 3-2 win over the Yankees.

Sometimes, the best wins are the ones that feel like they're slipping away. The Baltimore Orioles found themselves in familiar territory tonight: an early deficit, a struggling offense, and a left-handed pitcher making them look helpless. For six innings, it looked like another frustrating loss to the New York Yankees. But baseball has a funny way of flipping the script.

Enter Coby Mayo. With one swing in the bottom of the seventh, the rookie erased all that frustration. After Adley Rutschman finally broke up the no-hit bid, Mayo launched a three-run homer that sent Camden Yards into a frenzy. The bullpen did the rest, with Rico Garcia shutting down the heart of the Yankees order in the eighth and a successful challenge sealing the 3-2 victory.

Let's not forget the man who kept Baltimore in it. Brandon Young, the 27-year-old right-hander, delivered a gutsy performance against the best offense in the American League. He danced out of trouble in the first, struck out the side in the second, and showed poise after Ben Rice's two-run homer in the third. That could have been the breaking point, but the Orioles refused to fold.

The defense stepped up, too. Tyler O'Neill made a diving catch in left to rob Aaron Judge, and when the Yankees threatened again in the sixth, reliever Dillon Enns made a spectacular barehanded play at first base to escape the inning. That's the kind of effort that keeps a 2-0 deficit feel like a one-run game.

For six innings, the bats were silent. The Yankees' lefty had the Orioles guessing, and the no-hitter chatter started to grow. But baseball rewards patience. Rutschman's single in the seventh was the spark, and Mayo provided the fire. It wasn't pretty, but it was pure Orioles Magic—the kind of win that reminds you why you love this game.
