The NFL offseason buzz is in full swing, and with the 2026 draft now behind us, analysts are busy breaking down every team's moves and making bold predictions. For the Tennessee Titans, the spotlight is firmly on second-year quarterback Cam Ward—and one NFL.com analyst believes he could be headed for stardom sooner than you think.
Matt Okada of NFL.com recently projected that Ward has what it takes to earn a Pro Bowl nod in his sophomore season. That's no small praise for a signal-caller who showed flashes of brilliance down the stretch of his rookie campaign, especially after the Titans made a coaching change. Once Brian Callahan was relieved of his duties, Ward took off, looking like one of the hottest quarterbacks in the league heading into the offseason.
The Titans didn't waste any time giving their young QB more firepower. In a bold move during the draft, they passed on elite defensive prospects to select Ohio State wideout Carnell Tate with the fourth overall pick. That decision could prove pivotal. History shows that pairing a highly drafted quarterback with a dynamic receiver often leads to a breakout second season—just look at Drake Maye with Stefon Diggs, Joe Burrow with Ja'Marr Chase, or Kyler Murray with DeAndre Hopkins.
But the upgrades don't stop there. Tennessee also signed free agent Wan'Dale Robinson to work the short areas of the field, giving Ward a reliable safety valve. And with new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll calling the plays—an established mind known for smart game-planning—Ward finally has the support system he needs to thrive.
Last season, Ward's pass catchers dropped 24 passes (eighth-most in the league) and posted a -3.9 percent catch rate over expected (fourth-worst), according to NFL Pro. With significant improvements to his weaponry and a coordinator who understands how to maximize his strengths, the pieces are in place for Ward to take a major leap in 2026. While questions remain along the interior of the offensive line, there's no doubt the Titans have put their young quarterback in a much better position to succeed.
