João Cancelo made history on Sunday night, helping FC Barcelona clinch the La Liga title and becoming the only player ever to win league championships in five of Europe's top domestic competitions. The 31-year-old Portuguese full-back, who joined Barça on loan from Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal in January, has quickly become a key figure in the team's success.

While Barcelona are now working to make his move permanent—and Cancelo has repeatedly expressed his desire to stay—the celebrations were tinged with frustration aimed at his parent club. Speaking after the title-clinching win over Real Madrid, Cancelo didn't hold back, accusing Al Hilal of misleading him during their time together.

"At Al Hilal, unfortunately, there were people who didn't tell me the truth," Cancelo revealed. "They told me they were going to register me for the Saudi league, and then, when the time came, they didn't. And I'm always the one who ends up looking like the bad guy."

Despite the bitterness, Cancelo made it clear he holds no grudges. "But at least I keep my word; I wouldn't change that for anything in the world. I've always been the same person. I'm straightforward. I don't hold a grudge against anyone."

Turning his focus to the present, Cancelo beamed about Barcelona's triumph. "Today I'm here, I'm very happy, I've won a title with Barça, which for me is the best club in the world." When pressed about his future, he remained coy but confident. "I know what I want, but I can't say it publicly. We'll see what happens."

The achievement of winning league titles in four different countries—Portugal, England, Italy, Germany, and now Spain—didn't faze the veteran defender. "The record of four league titles in four countries doesn't surprise me, because I know what I do every day; I know how dedicated I am to football. It's been my passion since I was a child. I believe that God always puts things in their rightful place."

For fans and followers of the beautiful game, Cancelo's journey is a reminder of the grit and grace that define top-tier football—and a story that resonates whether you're cheering from the stands or gearing up in your favorite team's kit.
