After a challenging coaching search, the Oliver Springs Bobcats have finally found their new leader. The school announced over the weekend that Rodney Ellison will take the helm as the next head coach of the Oliver Springs (TN) football program, according to BBB TV 12.

The search hit a snag earlier this summer when the Bobcats thought they had secured Blountstown (FL) head coach Brad Waggoner. However, Waggoner ultimately decided to return to Blountstown, leaving Oliver Springs back at square one. Waggoner had built an impressive resume in Tennessee, going 29-9 over three seasons at Gatlinburg-Pittman from 2021-2023.

Enter Ellison, who brings valuable head coaching experience to the Bobcats. He previously led Wartburg before moving into various offensive coordinator roles, giving him a well-rounded perspective on building a winning program.

The Bobcats are coming off a solid 7-5 season, finishing ranked No. 235 in the final 2025 Tennessee High School Football Massey Rankings. With a student population of around 281, Oliver Springs High School competes in Region 2-A under the Roane County Schools umbrella. The purple-and-white Bobcats have long been known for their spirited athletics, and the football program is now looking to build on last year's momentum.

For fans eager to follow the Bobcats and other Tennessee high school teams through the upcoming season, the Rivals High School Scoreboard offers real-time updates and final scores from across the Volunteer State.
