The Georgia Bulldogs have landed a major defensive boost for the 2026 season, signing former Ole Miss forward James Scott. The 6-foot-10, 225-pound big man brings a much-needed presence to the Dawgs' frontcourt, especially after several key departures in the transfer portal.
Scott, ranked as a four-star transfer, is known for his reliability and defensive tenacity. Last season with the Rebels, he averaged 1.3 blocks and 0.5 steals per game while helping Ole Miss reach the SEC Tournament semifinals. Impressively, Scott has never missed a game in his three-year college career—a testament to his durability and consistency.
Offensively, Scott contributed 3.9 points and 4.6 rebounds per game across 35 appearances last season. His versatility on both ends of the floor will be a valuable asset for Georgia, especially as the team reshapes its roster. The Bulldogs have been busy adding size this offseason, signing former St. Bonaventure center Andrew Osasuyi and 7-footer David Ugonna from the NBA Academy to fill the void left by Justin Abson, Somto Cyril, and Jackson McVey.
Before his stint at Ole Miss, Scott played at College of Charleston and Louisville, gaining experience in different systems. Originally ranked as the No. 31 center and No. 200 overall player in the 2023 class by 247Sports, he now brings that pedigree to Athens for his senior campaign.
For Dawgs fans, Scott's arrival signals a renewed focus on defense and interior strength. With his shot-blocking ability and hustle, he could become a fan favorite in Georgia's rotation next season. Welcome to the squad, James Scott!
