The NCAA Transfer Portal is active once again, and Ole Miss forward Augusto Cassiá is the latest name to enter, as reported by On3’s Joe Tipton. The 6'8" Brazilian forward is now seeking his third program in four collegiate seasons, marking a significant transition in his career.

Cassiá spent the last two seasons with the Rebels after beginning his career at Butler. In his 31 games at Ole Miss, including five starts, he averaged 2.2 points and 1.6 rebounds per contest. His standout performance came in an 85-65 victory over Western Michigan last season, where he erupted for a career-high 16 points and grabbed four rebounds, showcasing the potential that makes him an intriguing prospect in the portal.

He becomes the fourth Ole Miss player to enter the portal this offseason, joining forward Corey Chest and guards Hobert Grayson IV and Eduardo Klafke. This movement comes on the heels of a challenging season where the Rebels lost 12 of their final 13 regular-season games, though they mounted a thrilling run to the SEC Tournament semifinals, upsetting Texas, Georgia, and Alabama along the way.

Following that tournament loss to Arkansas, head coach Chris Beard emphasized his commitment to rebuilding and supporting his players, whether they stay or go. "Our relationship with these players is just getting started," Beard stated. "That’s one thing you can get in our program: we’re going to have your back for the rest of our lives."

As Coach Beard and Ole Miss look to channel their late-season momentum into a roster overhaul, Augusto Cassiá will now explore new opportunities to find a system where he can maximize his skills and contribute on a more consistent basis. His next stop will be one to watch for fans of versatile, athletic forwards.
