The Oklahoma State women's tennis season has come to a premature and unfortunate end. The Cowgirls announced Thursday they will forfeit their final five matches of the season due to a devastating rash of injuries that has left the roster decimated.

With three players out for the season and three more currently sidelined, the team simply does not have enough available athletes to compete. This forced them to forfeit this weekend's scheduled home contests against Kansas and Iowa State, following three previous forfeits.

"This has been a truly unique set of circumstances and my heart goes out to our Cowgirl seniors who won’t get to play their final home matches at the Greenwood Tennis Center this weekend," said OSU director of tennis Dustin Taylor. The team plans to honor its seniors during Sunday's men's match.

It's a tough break for any program, highlighting how critical roster depth and player health are in collegiate athletics. The Cowgirls' season concludes with an 8-12 record, their last official competition having been on March 28.
