Oklahoma softball is celebrating another SEC regular-season championship after a dominant Saturday sweep of Texas A&M. The Sooners locked up their second consecutive conference title with a pair of hard-fought wins, proving once again why they're the team to beat.
Game one was a masterclass in small ball and clutch pitching. After a scoreless first three innings, the Sooners broke through in the fourth when Kasidi Pickering delivered an RBI single. The key moment came when Texas A&M opted to intentionally walk NCAA home run leader Kendall Wells—a decision that backfired spectacularly. Abby Dayton followed with a perfectly executed squeeze play, and Wells beat the throw home with a textbook slide. Freshman Lexi McDaniel added a pinch-hit RBI single to push the lead to 3-0.
Starter Miali Guachino cruised through four innings but ran into trouble in the fifth, surrendering back-to-back home runs that tied the game. Enter Audrey Lowry, who slammed the door with 2.2 scoreless innings of relief. The offense rewarded her effort in the sixth when Kai Minor ripped an RBI triple to reclaim the lead. Lowry improved to 22-2 on the season, and the Sooners made the lead hold despite managing just five hits—they drew six walks to keep pressure on the Aggies' defense.
Game two was a different story entirely. Sydney Berzon took the circle and got immediate support when Kai Minor led off the game with a solo home run. Two outs later, Kasidi Pickering crushed a three-run shot, and just like that, Oklahoma had a 4-0 lead before the Aggies could blink. Berzon was brilliant, allowing only two hits and no walks while striking out five over five innings.
The Sooners tacked on a run in the fifth on an Aggies error, and Ella Parker put an exclamation point on the day with her 21st home run of the season in the sixth, making it 6-0. With a comfortable lead, head coach Patty Gasso gave freshman Allyssa Parker a chance to pitch in a pressure-packed environment. She recorded a 1-2-3 sixth inning before allowing an RBI single in the seventh, but the damage was already done.
For Oklahoma, this championship is more than just a trophy—it's a statement. The Sooners have established themselves as the gold standard in the SEC, and with the postseason on the horizon, they're peaking at exactly the right time. Whether it's small ball, power hitting, or lockdown pitching, this team has all the tools to make another deep run.
