OKC Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was named the NBA's Clutch Player of the Year on Tuesday.
Gilgeous-Alexander is the first Thunder player to take home the annual award, which was created in 2023. Denver's Jamal Murray finished second, while Minnesota's Anthony Edwards finished third.
No player delivered down the stretch of close games during the regular season as consistently as Gilgeous-Alexander. The 27-year-old guard scored a league-leading 175 points during clutch time, which is defined as the final five minutes of the fourth quarter or any overtime with a score differential of five points or less.
And Gilgeous-Alexander did so in just 125.1 minutes. That's 52.3 minutes less than Murray, who ranked second with 166 points.
Gilgeous-Alexander is also a finalist for the NBA's Most Valuable Player award. The reigning MVP is in the running with Denver's Nikola Jokic and San Antonio's Victor Wembanyama. An announcement date for the award has not yet been confirmed.
