It was a painful Wednesday night for Connor McDavid.
Both an injury and a mistake were part of the evening for the Edmonton Oilers superstar in a 6-4 playoff loss to the Anaheim Ducks.
The injury came first. McDavid was skating in traffic, and it appeared that one of his teammate's skate blades slashed him pretty firmly in his lower leg.
McDavid clearly felt the pain immediately, and he skated off.
The captain did sit out briefly, but he would return to the ice.

Later in the game, McDavid got a little too free-wheeling with the puck while in his own defensive zone. A pass he tried toward a teammate didn't work.
Instead, the Ducks raced onto the loose puck, and a couple seconds later they had found the back of the net.

McDavid has yet to score through two playoff games, and now the Ducks have tied this series at a game apiece.
Edmonton is supposed to be dangerous in large part because it has McDavid and other teams don't. So far, though, the best player in the world has not lived up to the billing.
