The future of the Ohio State offensive line just got a whole lot bigger. Four-star offensive tackle Jimmy Kalis, a towering 6-foot-7, 290-pound prospect from Pittsburgh Central Catholic, announced his commitment to the Buckeyes on Friday, giving head coach Ryan Day a major building block for the future.
Kalis chose Ohio State over a who's who of college football elites, including Georgia, Miami, LSU, Clemson, and Texas. His commitment is a significant win for the Buckeyes' 2027 recruiting class, which now boasts 10 pledges and is currently ranked among the top five nationally.
Ranked as one of the nation's top offensive tackles, Kalis brings more than just impressive size to Columbus. He is a true NFL legacy; his father, Todd Kalis, played eight seasons in the league for the Vikings, Steelers, and Bengals. That pedigree, combined with Ohio State's renowned track record of developing linemen for the pros, made the Buckeyes a perfect fit.
In explaining his decision, Kalis highlighted the program's elite culture, consistent coaching, and proven development path. "Ohio State is high on my list because they have been consistent with me since day one," he said. "They develop offensive line at a high level and take pride in getting players to the next level."
With roughly 10 visits to campus already under his belt and a sister currently attending OSU, Kalis is already deeply familiar with his future home. His commitment reinforces Ohio State's status as a premier destination for the nation's top trench talent, setting the stage for the next generation of Buckeye greats to protect the scarlet and gray.
