NEW YORK — The Mets had a day to do some soul searching.
The club's series against the Rockies might have well been rock bottom as the Mets combined to score two runs across three games and were swept on Sunday.
Now after an off day, the Mets enter their three-game series with the Nationals on a three-game losing streak at 7:10 p.m. on Tuesday night at Citi Field. The Mets are 2-4 on their current homestand, have lost 15 of their last 17 games and enter the new series with a 9-19 record — tied for the Phillies for worst in Major League Baseball.
Several managers have felt the wrath of their ownership with the Red Sox's Alex Cora and Phillies' Rob Thomson both being let go in the midst of slow starts for their respective teams.
