The New York Giants are keeping busy this offseason, hosting former Kansas City Chiefs defensive back and special teams contributor Nazeeh Johnson for a free-agent visit on Thursday, according to Ian Rapoport. This move signals the Giants' ongoing effort to bolster depth at the bottom of their 53-man roster as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Johnson, a seventh-round pick by the Chiefs in the 2022 NFL Draft, has three seasons of NFL experience under his belt. While he played just 494 defensive snaps—all coming in 2024—he also logged 286 snaps on special teams. His performance last season was a mixed bag, as he allowed a 108.0 passer rating when targeted, giving up 32 completions on 51 passes thrown his way. Still, his familiarity with a winning program (the Chiefs have made three straight Super Bowls) could bring valuable experience to New York's secondary.

It's worth noting that Johnson isn't just testing the Giants' waters. He reportedly visited the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday, suggesting there's league-wide interest in the 25-year-old. For the Giants, adding Johnson would mean competing for a backup role in a crowded defensive backfield that already includes Deonte Banks, Jarrick Bernard-Converse, Korie Black, Thaddeus Dixon, Art Green, Nic Jones, and Rico Payton. The team also invested in the position this offseason, drafting cornerback Colton Hood in the second round and signing free agent Greg Newsome II.

With the Giants' roster currently sitting at 88 players—not counting unsigned first-round picks Arvell Reese and Sisi Mauigoa—there's still room to maneuver. If Johnson signs, he'd be vying for one of those final spots, likely leaning on his special teams versatility to make the cut. For a team looking to improve its depth and special teams unit, this visit could be a low-risk, high-reward opportunity.
