Celebrate a championship? UCLA’s Lauren Betts and Kiki Rice are too busy preparing for what’s next.

When the 2025 Women's Final Four tipped off in Phoenix, the bracket was a gauntlet of No. 1 seeds. The defending champion UConn Huskies entered undefeated. South Carolina was making its sixth consecutive appearance. And Texas had already notched a regular-season win over the UCLA Bruins. On paper, UCLA seemed like the underdog.

But championships are won on the court, not on paper. In a stunning defensive showcase, UCLA edged past Texas 51-44 in the semifinal, sealed by a career-defining block from star center Lauren Betts in the game's final seconds. Then, in the national championship, the Bruins delivered a masterclass, dominating South Carolina from the opening tip to secure a decisive 79-51 victory and the program's first-ever NCAA title.

For most, such a historic win would warrant a summer-long celebration. For UCLA's six graduating seniors, however, there was no time to rest. Immediately after cutting down the nets, their focus shifted to the next monumental challenge: preparing for the 2026 WNBA Draft.

Amid the whirlwind of draft workouts and interviews, stars Lauren Betts and Kiki Rice found a moment of levity and reflection over a meal at a Raising Cane's in Hollywood. "This is so cool," Betts said. "Our team loves Cane's... We have a slogan on our team, we always say, 'Let's get this chicken,' so it's kind of perfect that we're here."

That same sense of perfect, confident timing defined their championship run. Reflecting on the title game, Rice recalled the palpable energy. "You could just feel the vibe... You looked around the team and in the locker room you're like, 'Ok, no one on this team is gonna be ok with losing today.'" That collective resolve propelled them to a victory that resonated throughout the sport.

Now, with a championship legacy secured, Betts, Rice, and their teammates are channeling that same relentless drive into their professional futures. The celebration was legendary, but for these Bruins, the next chapter—beginning on WNBA Draft night—is already underway.
