Notre Dame is making serious noise on the recruiting trail again. After finishing No. 2 overall in last year's Rivals Industry Football Team Recruiting Rankings, the Fighting Irish are reloading for another elite class in 2027—and they just made a massive leap forward.

Coming into the day ranked 10th nationally, Notre Dame landed a game-changing commitment from five-star offensive tackle Oluwasemilore Olubobola out of St. Peter's (N.J.). Ranked as a top-25 player nationally by Rivals, Olubobola chose the Irish over Miami and Texas A&M, plus more than 20 other Power 4 offers. It's the kind of win that defines a recruiting cycle.

"What made Notre Dame right for me was the culture and standard they have for their players," Olubobola told Rivals' Steve Wiltfong. "The combination of academics and football. Notre Dame comes with a certain standard and respect because you're going to be seen by a lot of people. Just the opportunities Notre Dame provides—the connections, the people—it has a strong culture."

Olubobola is the first five-star commitment of the cycle for head coach Marcus Freeman and his staff, who signed a program-record three five-stars in the last class. His addition pushes Notre Dame past both LSU and Oregon for the No. 8 spot in the team rankings, trailing just behind Florida, Ohio State, and Miami.

With Olubobola on board, the Fighting Irish now have 15 pledges—trailing only Oklahoma and UCLA in total commitments. The group features 12 blue-chip prospects, including one five-star and 11 four-stars, plus a trio of three-stars in safety John Gay III, wide receiver Jackson Coleman, and long snapper Sean Kraft.

And the momentum isn't slowing down. Notre Dame is trending as the favorite in several other major recruitments, with one key decision expected later this week. For Fighting Irish fans, the future has never looked brighter.
