Notre Dame football is on a recruiting roll, and the Fighting Irish just added another massive piece to their future offensive line.

Five-star offensive tackle Oluwasemilore Olubobola announced his commitment to Notre Dame on Tuesday, giving head coach Marcus Freeman and his staff a huge win on the recruiting trail. The 6-foot-6, 295-pound prospect from St. Peters Prep in Jersey City, New Jersey, chose the Irish over powerhouse programs Miami and Texas A&M.

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Olubobola is the No. 15 overall prospect in the 2027 class and the No. 3 offensive tackle in the country. His decision came after an official visit during Notre Dame's Blue-Gold game in late April, where the Irish clearly made a lasting impression.

What makes Olubobola's story even more intriguing is his relatively recent introduction to football. The son of Nigerian parents, he initially focused on basketball before making the switch to the gridiron. That transition proved to be a smart move—he quickly emerged as a top-60 national prospect and recently competed in the Under Armour All-American game as an underclassman.

On film, Olubobola shows excellent footwork and a frame that can easily carry additional weight as he continues to develop. With his combination of size, athleticism, and raw potential, he projects as a cornerstone piece for Notre Dame's offensive line in the years to come.

This commitment continues a remarkable recruiting surge for Freeman and his staff. The Irish have stacked blue-chip talent in both the 2026 and 2027 classes, each headlined by premier five-star prospects. If Notre Dame can translate this recruiting momentum into on-field success this season, the program is well-positioned to sustain its championship aspirations for years to come.
